The 10 hormones that are responsible for women’s weight gain

Many women are in tension with weight gain. Sitting at home or spending lazy time or overeating, for whatever reason, women’s weight gain weight faster than men. While everyone knows the above open reasons for weight gain in women, there is a hidden and biggest reason that not many people know. And that is hormonal imbalance.

Hormonal imbalances not only cause weight gain but also cause many other problems in women. And these are related to biomarkers, pregnancy, and some medications. In addition to having an impact on the mental and physical condition of girls, hormonal imbalances greatly increase weight.

Do you know what these hormones are? How do they gain weight?

Let’s find out about these hormones that work behind weight gain so that we can avoid them and control weight. But before that, it is important to know about the hormones responsible for weight gain.

Hormones responsible for weight gain

1.Thyroid hormone

Thyroid hormonal problems exist in all women. Hypothyroidism is a deficiency of thyroid hormone that can cause women to gain weight. Symptoms of this disease are fatigue, weight gain, dry skin, and constipation.

The thyroid gland produces 3 hormones. These are T3, T4, and Calcitonin. Together these hormones regulate our metabolism or food metabolism, sleep, heart rate, and some more body functions including brain development.

But sometimes the thyroid does not produce the right amount of these necessary hormones which leads to hypothyroidism. And in many cases, it plays a role in weight gain.

2. Estrogen

Estrogen is a sex hormone in women. This hormone is the reason why women gain weight during menstruation. Weight gain is due to hormonal deficiency during menstruation. Fat cells are the source of estrogen. Fat cells convert calories into fat, which leads to obesity.

Even if the amount of estrogen in the body of girls decreases, the weight increases, and even if it increases, the weight increases.

As estrogen builds up, the cells in the body that make insulin are disrupted. As a result, the body becomes insulin resistant. And this increases the amount of sugar in the blood and weight gain.

When estrogen is reduced, ovarian cells no longer function properly. As a result, the body continues to look for estrogen elsewhere, one of the main sources of which is fat cells. Therefore, it converts the body’s source of excess energy into fat and leads to weight gain, especially in the lower parts of the body.

3.Progesterone

Progesterone levels decrease during menstruation. Due to which water flows in the body of women and the body becomes swollen. In this condition, the body feels heavier.

For the body to function properly, both progesterone and estrogen need to be balanced. In fact, menopause, stress, taking antibiotics and hormonal foods, or the use of birth control pills causes the progesterone to lose balance which contributes to weight gain.

4.Testosterone

Testosterone is a sex hormone that is mostly carried by men. But women also produce testosterone, although less so than men. It plays a major role in burning fat, increasing muscle strength, strengthening bones, and increasing sexual desire.

But occurs in many women POS (polycystic ovarian syndrome). Due to which the level of testosterone hormone increases. This can lead to weight gain, menstrual disorders, facial hair, acne, and infertility.

5.Insulin

We are all more or less familiar with the hormone insulin. This hormone controls fats and carbohydrates in our body. Insulin allows the body to use glucose. It is the causative agent of PCOS for which infertility occurs. Women gain weight if they have a lot of insulin in their bodies.

Eating unhealthy foods such as extra processed foods, fruits, alcohol, artificial sugars and snacks can lead to insulin resistance in the body. As a result, different cells in the body block insulin and it increases body weight.

6.Cortisol

Cortisol is also known as the “stress hormone”. Having high levels of cortisol in the body increases our appetite and leads to weight gain. Stress and lack of sleep are two reasons for the increase in the hormone cortisol.

7.Leptin

When our body is 100% healthy, leptin signals that there is no need to eat anymore, this time it should be stopped. Even then, when we continue to eat foods, especially foods that are high in sugar, there is an excess supply of fructose in the body which is converted into fat and increases weight.

8.Gherlin

This is the hunger hormone! Gherlin helps to arouse appetite and increase fat. It is excreted mainly by the stomach, as well as the small intestine, pancreas and brain. Excessive levels of gherlin in the blood cause weight gain. The reason why obese women want to eat more is because of this gherlin.

9.Melatonin

Melatonin is produced in the pineal gland deep in our brain. It helps our body maintain the circadian rhythm. As a result, we sleep regularly and wake up. Melatonin levels increase naturally at night. It releases growth hormone which helps the body to heal, build thin muscles and improve bone density. But if this melatonin secretion is interrupted for any reason, sleep is disrupted and weight gain occurs.

10.Glucocorticoids

Inflammation is an important part of the body’s healing process. However, chronic inflammation creates many more problems, including weight gain. And glucocorticoids help reduce this inflammation. Moreover, it regulates the use of sugars, fats and proteins in our body. But in some women this hormone does not work properly. As a result, those women develop obesity.
